Avery Sunderland's generosity made Eric Neiderman's life and career possible with his generosity decades earlier. He has solved problems for Sunderland ever since. Professor Johnson, a mentor to the Bon Ton Rulers, visits them at the Holland home, chats with Abby and takes his charges back to New Orleans. Lady Jane shows Swamp Thing some of the challenges of raising Tefé: the child's tendency to create small animated flowers that dance! Chester and Abby visit a bar and are confronted by a bigot; Chester decks him and he promises trouble for them. One of the Rules hacks Sunderland; this is detected and causes Constance to dispatch the Needleman. The bar bigot, Beaudreaux, calls on white supremacist and bigot Ben Barron, who has reasons of his own to loathe Swamp Thing. Abby reports Chester's actions to Swamp Thing and encounters one of Tefé's singing flowers. The Needleman visits Professor Johnson with questions, and someone plants a flaming cross on Chester's lawn! The next day, Otter of the Bon Ton Rulers calls on his mentor Professor Johnson only to discover he has been murdered!
