Kal-El rests in a Kryptonian jail, awaiting trial. As commander of Red Shard, he ordered his subordinates to take a Kryptonian criminal alive, and disobey Zod's direct order to execute him. But to the consternation of his legal council, he will do nothing less than speak the whole truth, confirming Zod's account of what happened.
His life rests on he case's outcome. But Kal-El has supporters of his own. Tyr-Van, a member of the Laborers Guild, arranges an opportunity for Kal-El to escape confinement and flee.
