The strange murder of Catherine Shepherd's father leads Madame Xanadu to a trio of old friends who seem to have been targeted for an unknown vendetta. She has tried to warn them, but as captains of Industry, she has had a difficult time reaching them.
The stranger cursing the men has stricken all three, while Nimue attempts to save at least one of them to learn why this is happening.
