When stage magician Ivar Loxias' act causes a fire in a Gotham theater, Ivar's name is the strongest draw to Batman. In rescuing survivors from the fire, he finds that one of Ivar's assistants was a longtime associate of Zatanna. Though his relationship with her is strained at best due to the revelations that she played with his memory to eliminate his knowledge of the Justice League's misdeeds*, he still feels obligated to notify her of the assistant's death.But when they find that this may not have been an accident at all, Batman has to put his feelings aside to work with her in getting to the bottom of the mystery. *See Identity Crisis, and JLA story arc Crisis of Conscience
