Francine Peters lives in a rent-house in Houston with her best friend Katchoo. The pair have known each other since High School. Following a string of failed romances, Francine has been involved with Freddie Femur for a year... but she's afraid to sleep with him, thinking that if she does, he'll run off and start dating an aerobics instructor with a perfect tan. Her refusal to 'meet his needs' pushes their relationship to the breaking point. While looking at sculpture in a local museum, Katchoo meets a quiet, enigmatic man named David.
